Jennie Cole MSc

Jennifer is a part time educational consultant with over 15 years leadership and management experience of quality and curriculum, in both FE and 6th Form college environments, 20 years experience in education, and 18 years industry experience with British Telecom during the early days of Total Quality Management.

With more than 10 years of experience writing and validating both internal and external college self assessment reports and improvement plans, Jennifer’s key educational focus is on quality improvement and assurance to sustain and continuously improve the quality and development of teaching and learning, including student feedback activities, classroom observations, performance management, self assessment and quality improvement planning.


Jennifer has been a senior post holder for 5 years, as the Deputy Principal at Ludlow College, responsible for the development and planning of the college curriculum, the lead on planning, quality assurance and improvement plus College Nominee for Ofsted annual visits and inspections. In addition she has a broad range of experience of both 14-19 and 19+ curriculum, including the development and implementation of policies in relation to teaching, learning and student support activities; admissions and information, advice and guidance, including school liaison, mentoring Year 11s and enrolment; continuous professional development; plus marketing and publicity activities, including the redesign of college marketing materials. During this time Jennifer represented education and the college on a range of external committees and partnerships.

Prior to this, Jennifer worked at Guildford College for 15 years, in numerous roles including Interim Vice Principal, Assistant Principal Learners and Standards and Director of Quality and Performance. During this period Jennifer was responsible for creating a high performing Quality Unit, incorporating all aspects of quality assurance and improvement, performance management and the creation of the Student Voices concept in the early 90’s; examinations and student achievement and a Continuous Professional Development section responsible for staff development, IiP and appraisal.


During her time in education, Jennifer has represented FE at national and regional conference; worked for Edexcel as a Quality Verifier; represented colleges as the OfSTED Nominee, QAAHE Institutional Facilitator, Edexcel Quality Nominee and Lead Verifier. She has been an active member of quality improvement groups such as the 3 Counties Peer Review, South East Raising Quality and Achievement Steering Committee and Regional Quality Network, the Surrey LSC Retention and Achievement Task Group, 4 Surrey Colleges Standards Fund, plus Shropshire and Surrey LSC Provider Reviews. In addition, Jennifer has chaired numerous committees and working groups such as the Quality Improvement Group; Curriculum and Standards Corporation Sub Committee, Academic Standards Committee, Self Assessment Validation Committee, CPD Strategy Group, Student Voices Strategy Group, Lead Verifiers Team and Vice Chair of the Southern Shropshire Economic and Lifelong Learning Partnership working with employers.



Jennifer has a MSc in Educational Management and Leadership from the University of Worcester.
